Working of Reverse Osmosis
A saline water sample is passed through a semi permeable membrane and pressure is applied to it. This saline water pushes the pure water on the other side of the membrane. The majority of impurities including dissolved particles, dissolved salt, organic and bacterial solids are not able to pass through the membrane and these impunities can be discharged by discharging the brine separately. The pure water than can be uses for various purposes without further treatment.
Effluents and Waste Water Recycling Plants
Industrial and waste water released from various Industries contain high value of COD, BOD and Toxins. Such type of water must be first treated properly before this can be used somewhere and even before discharging in open.
The water treatment done by the waste water recycling plant will reduce the amount of COD, BOD and toxins present in the water during the first and second stage of treatment. The water after the second stage of treatment may still not be suitable for reuse or discharge in open and in this cases a third treatment known as tertiary treatment is required. The third stage or the tertiary treatment involves RO system, MEF system, Nano-Filtration system, Centrifuge and Decanter. The water after the tertiary treatment can be released in the open and can also be used for the purpose of gardening, flushing of toilets, boiler feed and process manufacturing.

- About 99 percent of organic solids and biological solids like bacteria and colloidal particles get removed. Also more than 95 percent of salts get removed by this system.
